On refusing to give dowry of twenty lakh rupees the night before the marriage, the groom refused to marry. Taking a complaint about the matter, the bride along with the family reached Brahmapuri police station and created ruckus demanding action against the groom and his family. The police called the groom’s side to the police station and assured the aggrieved party to take strict action by registering a case.

Kusum, a resident of Madhavpuram, told that the relationship of her daughter Neetu, who is studying MA, was fixed with Harsh, a resident of Dabathua. On February 21, he went to Dabathua with an engagement from Madhavpuram. In this, a car and all the dowry items were given.

The marriage ceremony was to be held on Wednesday at Prem Green Mandap on Delhi Road. On Tuesday, the bride got a call from the groom and said that we will bring the wedding procession only when 20 lakhs are given by 11 pm on Tuesday night. After this the phone was disconnected.
