Thane : Presenting the budget in the assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis announced the opening of medical colleges in 14 districts of the state by spending Rs 850 crore. Which also includes the Government Medical College at Ambernath in Thane district.
Let us tell you that there are limited health facilities in the rapidly developing Ambernath and its surrounding areas. Most of the time people have to go to Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane for treatment. The sub district hospital is being upgraded. However, during the global corona pandemic, many local residents had to face many problems due to lack of proper medical facilities.
After which local MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde and MLA Dr. Balaji Kinikar coming from medical field raised the demand of Government Medical College in Ambernath. Last year, after the approval of the college by the then Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh, the state’s Joint Director of Medical Education demanded 11 hectares of land on survey numbers 102, 103, 104, 106 and 166 in Ambernath.

The proposal was moved and approved in the 152nd meeting of the MMRDA. As per the proposal, 11 hectares of land on plot number 180, which was earlier reserved for a public park, has now been kept reserved for the Government Medical College in Ambernath. Now the way has been cleared for the construction of a state-of-the-art hospital on this land.
Hospital will be built on eleven hectares of land
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in a recent meeting approved a proposal to change the reservation of land for a government medical college in Ambernath. After the approval of MMRDA, the suggestions and objections from the citizens have been resolved for the required eleven hectares of land.
