In the Baldev area of Mathura, a farmer going to the field on a bicycle was hacked to death with an ax. The attackers fled after the incident. There is outrage in the village after the incident which happened in broad daylight on Monday. The victim’s family has filed a complaint in the police station against six named and two unknown persons.
Yogendra Pandey (55), a resident of Chatur Mohalla of Baldev town, was going from home to the farm at around 2 pm on Monday. As soon as he reached the farm about a kilometer away by bicycle, Yogendra was surrounded by eight people already in ambush. Yogendra, who ran to save his life, first hit his feet with an ax.
Strikes on the waist and head too
When the farmer tried to climb on the roof of the tubewell cell, he made several blows on his waist and head, due to which he died on the spot. Hearing the screams, the neighbors rushed to the spot, by then the attackers had fled. As soon as the family and the people of the villages came to know about the incident, the crowd reached there.
Baldev police station also reached the spot. Dog squad was also brought to the spot, then it came back after going some distance. Inspector-in-charge Narendra Yadav said that the deceased’s brother Shyam Pandey has given a complaint saying that the murder has been done due to old enmity. A complaint has been lodged against six named and two unknown.

After the brutal murder of the deceased Yogendra Pandey, the family is in a bad condition. There is resentment among the villagers. There was only one question in everyone’s mind that why was the murder done so mercilessly. Yogendra was of religious nature. Both the times used to visit Dauji. Two daughters of the deceased are married, one son Devendra Kumar is 16 years old.
