From the religious point of view, ‘Margashirsha Purnima’ has great importance. This year this full moon fast is today i.e. on December 7, Wednesday. Marshish month is also ending on this day.
All the fasts observed in this month have special significance. This is because the month of Marshish is considered to be the form of Lord Shri Krishna. Similarly, a special fast is observed on the full moon day of the Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month, which is also known as Mokshadayini Purnima, Aghan Purnima or Battisi Purnima.
According to the scriptures, the moon is full of all its arts on the day of Marshish Purnima. That’s why Chandradev is also worshiped on this day. Let us know when is Margashirsha Purnima, auspicious time and significance.

According to the Panchang, the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Marshish month will start on 7th December 2022, Wednesday at 8:01 am and will end on the next day i.e. 8th December at 9:37 am. That’s why Marshish Purnima fast will be observed on 7th December.
worship method
- According to beliefs, Lord Narayan is worshiped in the month of Marshish. It is believed that keeping fast and worshiping on this day brings economic prosperity in the house.
- After waking up in the morning, take a bath and wear clean clothes. Worship Lord Krishna and take a vow of fasting. Worship by making an altar and offer sacrifice in Havan.
- Sleep near the idol of Lord Narayan at night.
- Donation should also be done to the needy or poor.
Take a holy bath and worship the moon on the day of Marshish Purnima
According to the scriptures, taking a bath in the holy river on a full moon day gives best results. Along with this, the worship of Chandra Dev also has special significance on this day. It is believed that by worshiping the moon and offering milk on the day of Marshish Purnima, mental prosperity is achieved and happiness and prosperity comes in life. It has also been told in the scriptures that by donating on this day, many times more virtue is attained. Along with this, by worshiping on the day of Mokshadayini Purnima, salvation is attained according to the name and all wishes are fulfilled.
