Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav has given a message of monopoly on the legacy and politics of Mulayam Singh Yadav by making Dimple Yadav a candidate in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha by-election. He has tried to give a message that even though he himself is not contesting from Mulayam Singh Yadav’s seat, he will remain fully associated with Mainpuri on the pretext of Dimple. Dimple is also considered more fit in terms of caste equation.
Before declaring Dimple Yadav as its candidate, the Samajwadi Party made former minister Alok Shakya as its district president. Through these, the Sakya voters were mobilized in their favor. Party people say that former minister Alok Kumar Shakya has been MLA from Bhogaon thrice. His father Ram Autar Shakya has also been MLA twice. Till now BJP is preparing to bet on Shakya face from here, but SP has taken the equation by making it district president.

This Lok Sabha constituency comprises the Jaswant Nagar assembly constituency of Etawah along with Bhogaon, Mainpuri, Kishni and Karhal. There are maximum 3.5 lakh Yadavs, 1.5 lakh Thakurs, about 1.60 Shakya voters. Similarly, Muslims, Kurmis, Lodhis are one lakh each and Brahmins and Jatavs are 1.5 lakh each.
Akhilesh Yadav himself is an MLA from Karhal, Shivpal Singh Yadav from Jaswant Nagar and Brijesh Katheria from someone else. While the Mainpuri, Bhogaon assembly constituencies are occupied by the BJP. In this sense also, the Samajwadi Party is confident that it will be able to win again the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat.
