BangaloreKarnataka Irrigation Minister Govind Karjol on Wednesday said the time has not yet come to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the border dispute with Maharashtra. The minister, however, admitted that the state government was dealing with the matter legally.
Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly Siddaramaiah on Tuesday objected to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai not calling an all-party meeting so far to discuss the looming issue.
Responding to a question regarding Siddaramaiah’s statement, Karjol said, “Bharatiya Janata Party is not ready to do the kind of politics that Siddaramaiah wants. We know when (all-party meeting) to be called, we are in the government, and certainly such a situation has not come, and it is not needed now.”

Talking to reporters here, the minister said that legal steps have been taken by the government in this matter. The minister said, “Such a situation (to call an all-party meeting) has not yet come. We have taken all political parties and people into confidence whenever required and will continue to do so, but at present (in this case) such a situation has not arisen. Siddaramaiah had said on Tuesday that the Chief Minister should have called an all-party meeting by now to discuss the issue, but he did not.(Agency)
