Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court, Vice Chancellor of Kanpur University, Prof. The petition filed to stop the CBI investigation against Vinay Pathak has been dismissed. This order was given by the division bench of Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Narendra Kumar Johri while disposing of the petition of David Mario Dennis.

Dennis challenged the decision of the state government through a petition, in which Prof. CBI was instructed to investigate the case of extortion and corruption registered against Vinay Pathak at Indira Nagar police station. The court, completing the hearing in this matter on February 14 itself, had reserved the verdict.

Significantly, Prof. On October 29, David Mario Dennis lodged an FIR against Pathak and his close aide Ajay Mishra at Indira Nagar police station. In this, Dennis had alleged that Pathak was charged 15 per cent commission for the work done by his company during his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of Agra University. During this, recovery of Rs 1.41 crore was made forcibly on behalf of the accused.

CBI and ED investigation will speed up

The CBI investigation against Vinay Pathak, Vice Chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur, will gain momentum following the order of the High Court on Tuesday. After the dismissal of the petition of plaintiff David Mario, the CBI will start a fresh investigation of the entire episode. At the same time, ED will also tighten its grip on Vinay Pathak.

Actually, after getting strong evidence against Vinay Pathak, STF had given notice several times for questioning. Pathak kept avoiding appearing before the investigating agency by claiming he was ill. The STF was about to file a charge sheet against the culprits in the court after completing the investigation. Meanwhile, on December 29, 2022, the state government recommended getting this inquiry done by the CBI. The CBI registered a case on January 6 in the Anti Corruption Unit-II of New Delhi. After this the team came to Lucknow and took possession of STF and police related documents and case diaries. On the other hand, the plaintiff David Mario filed a petition in the High Court not to investigate the case with the CBI, after which the pace of the CBI investigation went slow.

On the other hand, after asking for documents related to the case in December, the ED opened the case file in its Lucknow office. However, no money laundering case was registered. Now, with the permission of the Special Director, a money laundering case will be registered against Pathak and Ajay Mishra of XLICT.
