In Gudamba’s Mishrapur Depot area, three miscreants riding on two bikes looted a bag full of jewelery by putting a gun on the temple of a bullion trader on Tuesday night. Also fired on protest. The businessman informed the police. According to him, there were gold and silver jewelery worth Rs 12 lakh in the bag. Police reached the spot and started investigation.
Naresh Singh of Mishrapur village has opened a shop in Mishrapur Depot a year back in the name of Maa Lakshmi Jewellers. On Tuesday night at 8.10 pm, he closed the shop and was going home on his bike keeping the jewelery in a bag. Three miscreants chased them from two bikes near the village. Before Naresh could understand anything, the miscreants overtook and put their bike in front of his bike. Then a miscreant started snatching his bag and cut its strap with a knife. When Naresh protested, the other miscreant put a gun on his temple and fired in the air. Meanwhile, as soon as the opportunity arose, the miscreants looted the bag and fled towards the village.
According to Naresh, he also chased the miscreants for a kilometer, but could not catch them due to darkness. According to him, no miscreant had covered his face. He claimed that he could identify the miscreants. According to DCP Northern SM Kasim Abdi and Joint Commissioner of Police Crime Neelabja Chowdhary, who reached the information, the police team is searching for the miscreants in the surrounding area. The footage of Bharat Petroleum’s CCTV cameras located at the turn is being scrutinised.
Had changed the time of going home from the shop
According to Naresh Singh, there are frequent thefts in the area. In such a situation, he used to take all the gold jewelery and some silver items from the shop in a bag and take them home. He had changed the time to go home. Sometimes at seven, sometimes at eight or nine, he used to leave for home. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. He used to inform them while leaving for home.
