A painful accident happened late Saturday night near Latubir Pulia on NH-2 in Varanasi. The bus carrying pilgrims from Maharashtra collided with a truck parked on the highway. 13 devotees traveling in the bus were seriously injured in the accident. All have been admitted to BHU Trauma Center. Police have taken the accident bus and truck into custody.
It is being told that the accident happened due to the driver of the bus dozing off. According to the police, 45 pilgrims from Ahmednagar in Maharashtra were coming to Varanasi after visiting Gaya in a tourist bus. On the highway, the bus of Latubir Pulia collided with a truck standing on the roadside. There was an outcry at the spot. The front part of the bus was badly damaged.
Thirteen tourists, including eight women, were seriously injured. Many got minor injuries. On information, the in-charge of Ramna police post reached the spot along with the force. In a hurry, the injured were taken to BHU Trauma Center for treatment by ambulance. The rest of the devotees were taken to their destination in Varanasi in another vehicle.
