Even though the names of Captain Amarinder Singh and Sumitra Mahajan are being discussed for the post of next Governor of Maharashtra. However, Amarinder Singh resigned as Chief Minister on September 18, 2021, due to internal differences in the Congress and disagreement with the party leadership.
