Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate ‘India Energy Week 2023’ in Bengaluru on Monday. During this, he will launch ‘E20’ fuel, a blend of 20 per cent ethanol in petrol, and inaugurate the helicopter factory of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) at Tumakuru. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for various development initiatives during the visit. This will be Modi’s third visit to the poll-bound state in less than a month. The Prime Minister had visited Hubli on January 12 and inaugurated the National Youth Festival. Modi will inaugurate ‘India Energy Week (IEW) 2023’ in Bengaluru which will be held from February 6 to 8. The objective of the event is to showcase India’s growing power as an energy transition superpower. An official release said that through this event, conventional and non-conventional energy industry, governments and academia are expected to come together to discuss challenges and opportunities.

The release said that more than 30 ministers from across the world will be present at the event. It added that there will also be over 30,000 delegates, 1,000 exhibitors and 500 speakers who will discuss the challenges and opportunities of India’s energy future. During the event, Modi will hold roundtable talks with global oil and gas chief executive officers (CEOs). He will launch various initiatives in the field of green energy. The Prime Minister will launch E20, a petrol blended with 20 per cent ethanol. The e20 petrol will be sold across 84 retail outlets in 11 states and union territories. The government has set a target of selling only E20 petrol till the year 2025. According to the release, the government has set a target of achieving 20 per cent ethanol blending fuel by 2025 and oil marketing companies are setting up 2G-3G ethanol plants to progress in this.

Modi will also flag off the ‘Green Mobility Rally’. The rally will see participation of vehicles running on green energy sources and is expected to help create awareness among people for green fuel. The Prime Minister will also launch the ‘Uniform’ under the ‘Unbottled’ initiative of Indian Oil. With an aim to phase out ‘single-use’ plastic, IndianOil has adopted this uniform made of recycled polyester (RPET) and cotton for retail customer attendants and LPG delivery personnel. In addition, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the twin-cooktop model of IndianOil’s indoor solar cooking system and flag off its commercial launch. Later at around 3.30 pm, Modi will inaugurate the HAL Helicopter Factory in Tumakuru.

Its foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister in 2016. It is a dedicated greenfield helicopter factory which will give a boost to the helicopter manufacturing capability and its adaptive mechanisms. This helicopter factory is Asia’s largest helicopter manufacturing facility and will initially produce Light Utility Helicopters (LUH). The factory will be expanded to repair LCH, LUH, civil ALH and IMRH in future along with manufacturing other helicopters like Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Indian Multirole Helicopter (IMRH). The factory also has scope for export of civil LUH in future.

With this centre, India will be able to meet its entire requirement of helicopters indigenously and will have the distinction of self-reliance in helicopter design, development and manufacturing. Modi will lay the foundation stone of Tumakuru Industrial Township. An industrial township spread over an area of ​​8,484 acres has been developed under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor in three phases at Tumakuru under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme.
