Six-year-old Jhanvi was murdered by the accused neighbors in Rapura village of Sajeti in Kanpur to avenge their humiliation in the village. Disclosing the incident on Thursday, the police arrested the accused Sultan, Chandrabhan and Chandrabhan’s wife Sudha and sent them to jail.
The police will appeal to the court to take the murderers on remand to collect more information and evidence regarding the incident. On the evening of February 25, farmer Pankaj’s daughter Janhavi had gone missing from the shop near the house to buy toffees.
The family lodged a report of kidnapping Chandrabhan, his wife Sudha, brother Sultan and father Ramprakash of the locality. Three days later, Jhanvi’s dead body was found lying in a mutilated (only upper part of the body) condition in a field outside the village.
