New Delhi: After battling two ‘major’ injuries last year, Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar has said that he is fully fit and ready to make a comeback from the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) starting on 31 March. . The 30-year-old fast bowler had a tough time recovering from a stress fracture and then a grade III thigh injury.
He last played for India in the second ODI in Bangladesh where he could only bowl three overs. In the year 2022, Chahar could play only 15 matches for India and was also ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to injury.
After extensive rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Chahar is preparing for the IPL where he will represent Chennai Super Kings. Chahar said, “I have been working hard on my fitness for the last two-three months, I am fully fit and preparing well for the IPL.”

He said, “I had two major injuries. There was a stress fracture and a grade III thigh injury. Both are huge injuries. You’re out for months. Coming back from injury takes time, especially for fast bowlers.
Chahar said, “If I was a batsman, I would have played for a long time but as a fast bowler, when you have a stress fracture, it is very difficult to come back. You can also see other bowlers struggling with back or groin injuries.
The Rajasthan pacer made a comeback to competitive cricket with a first-class match against Services last month but it turned out to be his only Ranji Trophy match. Chahar, who has slipped down the list of probables due to injuries, is expected to be a part of the Indian squad for the ODI World Cup at home later this year.
He said, “I have lived by one rule all my life. If I’m bowling completely the way I want, if I’m batting the way I want, nothing can stop me. That was the basic rule with which I started my career. (agency)
