Robbers used to exchange ATM cards

Bramhapuri: ATM card facility has been provided by various banks for the convenience of the public, but some people take advantage of the ignorance and haste of the people and withdraw full money from the concerned person’s bank through this ATM card. The police has busted such fraud gang and arrested three accused, 72 ATM cards have been seized from them.

The Bramhapuri police have arrested a gang from Haryana state that looted money from ATM machines by changing people’s ATM cards. ATM cards of different states such as Rajasthan, Gujarat, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra have been found from the accused.

It is said that these accused used to keep fake ATM cards with them. And standing near the person who came to withdraw money from the ATM, on the pretext of helping those ATMs from whom there was difficulty in withdrawing money, they used to change their ATMs and hand over fake ATMs to them. In this way, after changing the ATM, they used to withdraw the entire money from the same person’s account.

On November 25, 2022, an unknown person offered help to Vaman Gosai Dighor, a resident of Kinhi village of Brahmapuri tehsil, an ex-serviceman who went to SBI Bank ATM in Bramhapuri to withdraw money, and cleverly offered him help By changing the ATM card, he was handed over a fake ATM card. At that time this cleverness did not come to his attention. Three days later, when he again reached the ATM to withdraw money, he came to know about his fraud.

When he went to the bank and got the statement, Rs 10,000 was withdrawn from his account at the ATM in Vadsa and online transaction of Rs 74,997 was seen. A total of Rs 84997 had gone missing from his account. The victim immediately lodged a complaint against the unknown accused at the Bramhapuri police station. Police registered a case under section 420 against the unknown accused. During investigation, on the basis of CCTV footage and various technical evidences, the accused were found from Hansi village of Hisar district of Haryana state. The passing of the vehicle used by the accused also turned out to be from Haryana. After getting this information, the police started searching for the accused. The police reached Haryana on November 7, 2022, searching for the whereabouts of the accused, but the accused had fled from there.

On the evening of 11 February 2023, the Bramhapuri police received confidential information that the accused had left for Adilabad to commit a similar crime. The police formed a team and sent it towards Adilabad in Telangana state. The squad again got information that the accused Tata Nexon car no. HR 21 P 0125 has left from Adilabad towards Nagpur. The police team chased them. And informed the Butibori Nagpur Rural Police.

With the help of Nagpur police, the car of the accused was stopped and the three accused Joginder Singh Chandersingh Bittu 26, Rajesh Reluram Mala 45, Punit Shivdutt Panchal 32 were taken into custody and 72 ATM cards, Rs 43 thousand in cash, three mobile phones were seized from them. The Tatanexon car HR 21 P 0125 vehicle used in the crime was seized. Due to the ATM cards seized from the accused belonging to persons from different states, the possibility of cheating the citizens by swapping ATMs in such states as Rajasthan, Gujarat, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra is being expressed. The accused have been arrested by the police.

The above action was taken under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police Ravindra Singh Pardeshi, Additional Superintendent of Police Rina Janbandhu, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Bramhapuri, Milind Shinde, Police Inspector Roshan Yadav. The police has appealed to the people to check their ATMs, if any such fraud has happened to them, then inform the police.
