Indigenous Train Protection System (Kavach) device will now be installed in electric locomotives manufactured at Banaras Rail Engine Factory (Bareka). It has been successfully tested. The approval from the Railway Board is expected soon. After installation of Kavach device, trains will be able to run at high speed even in dense fog. Like the metro, the loco pilot of normal trains will continue to get signal information. Railway department is serious about passenger safety. For this reason, the research design and standard organization (RDSO) Lucknow got the armor device prepared.

Now with the help of Bareka, safety and security are being strengthened by installing it in the engine. Armor is anti-collision technology. This train will be helpful in preventing accidents. If two trains come face to face on the same track and the device is installed in both, then the loco pilot will get the information in advance. There will be no chance of trains colliding with each other. Trains can be parked only at a fixed distance.

The normal speed of trains in fog is 65 kilometers per hour. When the exact signal information is not received, the speed is further reduced. In this context, the armor device will be important. The device installed in the tower near the engine and railway station will further improve the signal system. Due to this, the speed of trains will be kept more than normal.

Not only this, if the loco pilot approaches the stop signal (red signal) under any circumstances and does not reduce the speed of the train, the brakes will be applied automatically after a certain distance. This device detects another train on the same track within a certain distance.

According to Cantt station director Gaurav Dixit, a tower will be installed at the station, which will be linked to the signal. This will keep the Kavach device attached. The device is already linked through a microprocessor, Global Positioning System (GPS) and radio communication. Therefore, correct and accurate signal information will continue to be available. Everything will be modern.

Bareka Deputy General Manager Vijay said that the preparations for armoring the locomotives to be made in Bareka are complete. Permission from Railway Board is awaited.
