The accused fled after the incident. On receiving the information, the police reached the injured admitted to the district hospital. The injured youth is the nephew of senior BJP leader and former district president Munna Dubey. The names of the Manbads are also being linked to Mukhtar Ansari. Bhiti resident Ajay Dubey (27) son Ashok Kumar Dubey, admitted to the district hospital, told the police that he had gone out to buy household items at around 3 pm on Wednesday. Pandey was taking goods from the grocery store after reaching Katra. In the meantime, he got into an argument with Pankaj, who was with his partner at the shop. Pankaj fired at him with his pistol. The bullet went through the thigh of his right leg. After the incident, the people present at the spot got scared. The accused fled after shooting.

Here the doctors later referred Pankaj to Varanasi. Pankaj’s brother Abhinandan also reached the spot on the information of the bullet. On the information about the shooting of the nephew of the BJP leader, CO Dhananjay Mishra reached the spot and investigated. CO CT Dhananjay Mishra told that Pankaj Singh, who shot the miscreant, is related to Mukhtar Ansari gang. He was arrested a month ago in connection with an illegal firearm case.
