‘The boat does not cross fearing the waves, those who try are never defeated’. These lines of Harivansh Rai Bachchan have been proved true by Vandana Kumari, a nine year old daughter of Baraon village. Two years ago, both his hands were dislocated due to being hit by a machine, so he made his feet his hands. Five months after the accident, he started writing, reading and doing all the household chores with his feet. Along with going to school everyday, Vandana actively participates in various competitions. Everyone is surprised to see the courage of the daughter.
Bablu Prajapati, a resident of Baraon village of Shahabganj development block of Chandauli, is an agriculturist. He takes care of his family by farming. He has two sons Shubham (13) and Shivam (11) and daughter Vandana (9). On January 22, 2020, paddy was being threshed outside her house with a machine, when Vandana got hit by the strap of the machine while bringing the ball. Due to this both his hands were uprooted. Doctors told that Vandana’s hands cannot join now. Father Bablu spent lakhs to get him treated.

When Vandana came home, the neighbors and relatives started saying that now the daughter is of no use. It will have to live with the support of others for the rest of its life, but everyone was surprised when Vandana started trying to hold a pencil with her feet only after five months. As soon as she saw it, she started writing holding a pencil by her feet. Mother Kiran Devi encouraged her a lot. Today Vandana goes to school every day and like a normal child, sits on the bench and studies. At the same time, she does the work of eating food, sweeping, washing utensils and washing clothes with her feet. Vandana told that her dream is to become an engineer, for this she will work hard day and night. Father Bablu Prajapati said emotionally that whatever the daughter wants to do, she will get it done. Will not give up in any effort.
