The Allahabad High Court has sought response from the State Government and the Waqf Board on a petition filed against the name of the petitioner in the Khatauni of land plot number 1081 of Banke Bihari temple located in Shahpur village of Mathura, against the name of the mosque. The court has said that the present status of the plot including Khatauni should be given in the affidavit. The next hearing of the petition will be on October 17.

Justice Vikram D Chauhan has given this order on a petition filed by Shri Vihari Ji Seva Trust Mathura. The counsel for the petitioner says that before the Zamindari Abolition Act, the land was in the name of the petitioner. A temple has also been built on that land, but under the conspiracy by the Muslims of the village in the SP government, with the connivance of the officials, they got the name of the mosque registered by making a tomb on the said land.

On coming to know about this, the petitioner trust and the villagers complained to the officials. Reports were sought several times from the concerned authorities on this and due to the mosque being a mosque, the reply was also summoned from the Waqf Board. But if no action was taken, the petitioner took refuge in the High Court. In the petition, a demand has been made to issue an order to the District Magistrate Mathura and the Deputy District Magistrate, Chhatra to consider the application of the petitioner. The petitioner also demanded that the land belonged to the Banke Bihari temple, hence the name of the mosque should be removed and registered in the name of the temple trust.
