The Allahabad High Court has rejected the bail application of Santosh Kumar Mishra, a project officer of Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Construction and Development Ltd, accused of fraud and embezzlement of 55.30 lakhs in interlocking work in villages along with Mathura under MNREGA scheme. There is an allegation of collusion and criminal conspiracy with the co-accused to get the work done contrary to the standard and embezzlement of money without getting the work done. This order has been given by Justice DK Singh.

The petitioner said that a co-accused has got bail, he should also be released on bail. But senior CBI advocates Gyan Prakash and Sanjay Yadav said that the court has refused to release the two accused on bail. The petitioner has also played a similar role. On this the court rejected the application.

It may be known that the court handed over the investigation of misuse of MNREGA funds in seven districts of the state between 2007 and 2010 to the CBI and directed to complete the investigation. Which includes Balrampur, Gonda, Mahoba, Sonbhadra, Santakbirnagar, Mirzapur, and Kushinagar. The scam was also investigated in seven villages of Mathura district. The CBI registered an FIR in Ghaziabad and a scam of 55.30 lakhs was unearthed. In Badhangarh village of Nandgaon, work worth 7.50 lakh was not done at all and the payment was taken.
