Mumbai : Famous Pakistani singer and musician Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has made a distinct identity among the people. Singer has a strong fan following. Today is Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s 48th birthday. He was born on 9 December 1974 in Faisalabad, Pakistan to a Punjabi family of Qawwal and classical singers. Singer is also known for Qawwali, Ghazal and Sufi devotional music.

Singer is the son of famous Pakistani musician Farooq Fateh Ali Khan and nephew of Qawwali king Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan started singing with his uncle and father at the age of just three. His uncle Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan taught him the art of singing Qawwali. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan started his career as a playback singer in Bollywood with the song ‘Mann Ki Lagan’ from the film ‘Paap’ released in the year 2003.

Singer has made his mark not only in Bollywood but also in Hollywood. He composed the music for the 1995 Hollywood film Dead Man Walking along with Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and his father. Then in 2002, he worked on the soundtrack for The Four Feathers with the help of James Horner, an American composer of orchestral and film music. He then made a guest appearance with the Derek Trucks Band on the song “Maki Madani” from the Trucks album, Joyful Noise.
