New Delhi:
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday urged the G-20 countries to start a timely discussion in the WTO on extension of patent exemption for the test and treatment of Kovid-19. Members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in June agreed to grant a temporary patent exemption for manufacturing of the Kovid-19 vaccine for only five years. However, the inclusion of investigation and treatment in the scope of this exemption is to be discussed. India and South Africa had requested to include them in the ambit of exemption.
