Police protection will be given to the witnesses in the murder of Kanpur businessman Manish Gupta at Hotel Krishna Palace in Gorakhpur. For this, Special Judge Vinay Kumar Jha of CBI Court has issued an order to the DGP. Along with this, there will be such a system in the court that the witness and the accused should not be face to face.

In fact, five accused policemen in this case have got bail from the court, due to which Manish’s wife Meenakshi Gupta had sought protection from the CBI. According to the information, Meenakshi Gupta had given an application to the CBI regarding the demand for security. Justifying this, the CBI has told the court that Meenakshi Gupta, Manish’s friend Harbir Singh and hotel manager Adarsh Tiwari, the main witnesses in the Manish murder case, are all very weak witnesses. Whereas, all the accused are policemen and they are currently out of jail on bail. In such a situation, there is a danger to the lives of the witnesses.

Along with this, the CBI is also apprehensive that the accused policemen can influence the testimony by intimidating the witnesses. The CBI had also appealed to the court that now the case is to be heard on February 6-7. In such a situation, many times the accused intimidate the witnesses by staring or even with their eyes in the court premises itself. Due to which there is a possibility of affecting the testimony of the case.
