Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that we have to learn new ways to make the country great. Sansad Khel Mahakumbh is such a new method, which will work to make the country the best in the field of sports. Sansad Khel Mahakumbh is the foundation of the sports sector, on which the grand edifice of the future will stand.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was guiding the players at the closing ceremony of the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh held at the regional playground in Gorakhpur on Thursday. Through a video message, the Prime Minister said that the government has made several provisions in the budget to promote sports and sportspersons. Compared to 2014, the budget of the Sports Ministry has been tripled. Many modern stadiums are being built. Lakhs of rupees are being helped to the players.
He said that we have to adopt a holistic vision towards sports. With schemes like ‘TOPS’, attention is being given to the training of the players. Along with Khelo India, campaigns like Fit India and Yoga are also moving forward.
The Prime Minister said that everyone has the desire to be fit. Sports used to take place in our traditional fairs. Different types of games used to take place in the akhadas as well. But, later sports were neglected. The situation has become such that the period of PT was also considered as time pass. Neither the facilities nor the size of the game increased for three-four generations.
There is a lot of secret and latent potential in sportspersons: PM
The PM said that there is a lot of hidden and latent potential in sportspersons, which is also eager to come out. The Sansad Khel Mahakumbh has a big role in giving a platform to this potential. Happy that hundreds of BJP MPs are organizing the Khel Mahakumbh. Due to this, a large number of sports talents are getting a chance. Some of these sporting talents will play at the state and national level. Later on, he will win medals for the country in competitions like Olympics.
Sports facilities are being developed: Yogi
Praising Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the development of sports and encouragement of sportspersons, the Prime Minister said that he is happy to know that sports facilities are being developed on a large scale in Uttar Pradesh. Regional Stadium is an example of this. In Gorakhpur, playgrounds have been made in more than 100 villages.
