The residents of Gorakhpur district will now be able to get more sky to fly. The Ministry of Defense has given permission to provide 42.14 acres of land for the expansion of the airport. Along with this, a fund of Rs 76.66 crore has also been approved for construction works.
The land allotted by the Ministry of Defense for the airport is situated in the Air Force Complex. This land is registered in the name of the Ministry of Defense in the revenue records. This is the reason why the process of handover the land took more than six months. The district administration had sent the proposal to the Ministry of Defense through the state government.
On the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi, the Ministry of Defense has made land and funds available. The airport administration says that after the expansion of the airport, air services will expand. Passengers will get modern facilities. Parking they will be 10. Parking of vehicles will start in the airport premises itself.
