Mother-son attempted self-immolation on Wednesday afternoon at Gagaha police station in Gorakhpur district. Both poured kerosene on themselves in the police station premises. The policemen caught both of them and stopped them from setting themselves on fire.
The police have challaned both of them for breach of peace. Police say that the matter of land dispute is pending in the court. The mother-son has done this to create pressure in this.
According to information, Veena Devi (50), a resident of Gagaha’s Hatwa, along with her son Nandan Singh (24) reached Gagaha police station on Wednesday afternoon. Both of them poured kerosene on themselves which they had brought along in the bottle. Meanwhile, the police personnel caught the woman and her son.
Veena says that on the instigation of the police and the local leader, two people of the village are occupying their land and getting illegal construction done. Whose complaint she has made from the District Magistrate to the Chief Minister.
In this regard, station in-charge Sandeep Singh said that the case regarding the land is going on in the court. The woman had come to exert pressure in her favor. Mother-son have been challaned for breach of peace.
