A 60-year-old man tried to rape a four-year-old girl by holding her hostage in a village in Chaurichaura area of Gorakhpur district on Sunday. On the complaint of the mother, the police have registered a case under the sections of POCSO Act, attempt to rape by hostage. The accused is absconding leaving the house. Police claim that he will be arrested soon.
According to information, the girl’s mother had gone to the market on Sunday evening for some work, leaving her two children alone at home. When she returned in 15 minutes, the girl was not at home. On searching around, the sound of his crying was heard from a hut. When the mother went to the hut, the accused was trying to rape her.
Hearing the noise, as soon as the people around reached, the accused fled. SP North Manoj Awasthi said that a case has been registered on the basis of Tahrir. The accused will be arrested soon
