Gorakhpur: BRD raising hands in serious neuro cases, patients are being referred to KGMU and SGPGI

BRD Medical College is doing its best in the treatment of serious patients of neuro (related to brain, nerves, muscles and spine etc.). Not only emergency but also serious patients of OPD are being referred to Higher Center Lucknow. The number of such patients is three to four per day. If the number of patients from other departments is added, then 15 to 20 patients are being referred daily.

This is the condition when super specialty service has been started in the medical college. Medical college administration says that only one neuro doctor is on duty in emergency. Apart from this, the emergency service has not yet started in the super specialty block. Because of this serious patients have to be referred to Lucknow.

Actually, OPD service has started after the deployment of doctors in the super specialty block of BRD Medical College, but the emergency service has not started. Because of this, patients coming in critical condition have to go to the emergency ward at Nehru Hospital. There is only one Neuro doctor posted in this emergency ward. There is also no senior resident. In such a situation, the treatment of serious patients becomes difficult. At the same time, there is no senior resident in the super specialty block. Due to this patients are not getting the benefit of 24 hours service.

Number of neuro patients increases in cold weather

In the changing season, the number of neuro related patients is increasing. Every day eight to 10 patients are reaching from the district hospital to the medical college. Neuro medicine Dr. Anurag Singh told that the number of paralysis patients increases in cold weather.

In this case more caution is required. Dr. Rohit Gupta, cardiologist of the district hospital, told that the cold weather becomes dangerous for heart patients as well. Such patients are at high risk of neuro related diseases in this season.

Principal of BRD Medical College Dr. Ganesh Kumar said that teams of neurosurgeons and neuromedicine are examining patients in the super specialty block of the medical college. Patients coming in emergency are also being treated. Patients are referred to the Higher Center only in case of very serious condition.
