When Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at the beginning of this year, the people of Purvanchal were hopeful that they would no longer have to wander for the treatment of serious patients, but the whole year left people disappointed. People suffering from serious diseases had to get treated at other places instead of AIIMS.
The health department was supposed to get more than 50 doctors this year, which could not be found. The health department needs more than 70 doctors.
This year super specialty service started in BRD Medical College. Seven departments have been started. These include departments of nephrology, cardiology, neurosurgery, neuromedicine, oncology surgery. It is expected that the service of some more departments will start next year. However, in the midst of all this, the super specialty emergency service has not started yet.
Nine-storey pediatric institute built, service stalled
A nine-storey pediatric institute has been completed in the BRD Medical College campus, but the treatment of patients has not started in it. With the commencement of this institute, it is expected that seriously ill children will not have to go to Lucknow and Delhi for treatment.
