Nashik: After Chhath Puja, widespread foul smell spread due to widespread garbage spread in the Gangaghat complex. Due to this, tourists had to walk on the banks of Godavari river by pressing their nose. Keeping this in mind, the Nashik Municipal Corporation personnel started collecting garbage. 6 Ton 105 kg garbage was collected from Holkar bridge to Gauri Patangan. After Chhath Puja, the Municipal Corporation had instructed to use Nirmalya Kalash for pouring Puja literature and Nirmalya, to avoid using banned plastic bags in the river premises, not to throw Nirmalya, flowers, necklaces, clothes in the river, but it was not accepted by Chhath Vratis. ignored.

As a result of this, Godavari beach, Holkar bridge, Ramkund, Gandhi Talab, Neelkantheshwar Mahadev temple, old vegetable market, Mhasoba Patangan, Gauri Patangan, Kapurthala, Rokdoba Maidan, Kapila Sangam, Nandur Ghat complex were filled with garbage. 55 personnel collected garbage from Godaghat. Along with this, 58 workers cleaned Kapila Sangam and Nandur Ghat. This waste was transported to the compost plant of Pathardi by bell carts.

This cleanliness drive was carried out under the guidance of Departmental Officer Kailas Rabhadia, Departmental Sanitary Inspector Sanjay Darade of Waste Management. Suresh Kanojia, founder of Shri Sant Gadge Maharaj Kanojia Dhobi Samaj Sanstha, administrator Raju Kanojia and 12 of his associates played their part in this campaign.
