A case of duping a retired ITBP officer of Rs 1.80 crore by threatening to post obscene videos on social media has come to light. Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested Zarif, Neeraj and Ajit Singh in this case. The accused were arrested from Mathura and Bharatpur. More than 20 accounts were used for the defrauded amount.

The retired ITBP commandant had given a complaint to the South-West District Police that he had come in contact with a girl through WhatsApp. After this the video calls started. A few days later, the girl threatened to make the obscene video viral on social media. After this, calling himself Inspector Ramkumar Malhotra of Crime Branch of Delhi Police, he cheated money from them.

After this the gang members called that the girl they used to talk to had committed suicide. In such a situation, a case of murder is being registered against him. After this, the accused extorted a total of Rs 1.80 crore several times in lieu of concealing the matter by calling themselves senior police officers and Home Ministry officials.

Details of 200 mobile and 20 bank accounts were searched

On the complaint of the victim, under the supervision of ACP Ramesh Chanderlamba, the police team searched the details of about 200 mobile and 20 bank accounts. After this, a team raided Mathura and Bharatpur and arrested Zarif (30), resident of village Bas Nandera, tehsil Cama, district Bharatpur and Neeraj (22) and Ajit Singh (23), residents of village Agaryala, district Mathura.
