Devotees are wearing warm clothes to protect their idol from the biting cold. From the famous temples of the city to the temples of people’s homes, the clothes of the Gods and Goddesses have become weather-friendly. Some are wearing woolen clothes, while some are wearing warm clothes stitched from velvet. Some are covering God with a quilt, and some with a blanket. Heaters and blowers have been arranged in the sanctum sanctorum of some temples.
Similarly, the daily bhog of the deities has also been adapted to the season. Apart from hot food items, almonds, pistachios, cashews, jaggery etc. are being offered. Sabudana khichdi and buckwheat flour puri are being offered.
In the Kali temple located in Golghar, a woolen shawl is being covered to protect the mother from the cold. Radha Krishna, Sri Lakshmi-Narayan, Lord Shiva-Parvati and Laddu Gopal are being dressed in woolen clothes at Sri Sri Gopal Temple in Mohaddipur.
Actually, the devotees of God feel that the way the weather affects them, in the same way their worshipers are also affected. This is the reason why the gods and goddesses are dressed according to the weather in the temples. Bhog is also arranged according to the season.
God feels a special kind of enjoyment
Kamla Kant Ojha, the priest of Sri Sri Gopal Mandir, told that in the morning, warm milk is offered to God by adding almonds, cashews and pistachios. In the afternoon, dishes made of dry fruits and gum are offered. Krishna Gopal Saini, the priest of the Kali temple located in Golghar, told that the mother is covered with a woolen shawl during winter.
