If you are fond of keeping horses, then now you have to pay tax. The Goods and Services Tax Department has made 12 percent GST mandatory on buying and selling horses. Those buying and selling without paying GST will come under the ambit of tax evasion.

Not only this, if the purchase price of the horse is more than Rs 50,000, then an e-way bill will have to be generated. If this is not done then they will be considered guilty of tax evasion. Sources said that at present 136 horses have been identified in the city. Now preparations are on to collect tax from their parents.

Horses have been considered the ride of pride. At present, buying and selling of horses has become a big business. Perhaps that’s why the GST department has now brought this business under the tax net.

Since the trading of animals was tax free, they were not registered. Because of this there was no record. After bringing them under the purview of GST, the data of horses is now being prepared. Now the GST team can visit the premises of horse enthusiasts or those who use horses commercially. During this period, if tax payment documents are not received from the guardian at the time of purchase, then it will be considered as tax evasion and action will be taken.
