Andhra Pradesh Politics: The Election Commission of India has released Y. s. Jagan Mohan Reddy (YS Jagan Mohan Reddy) has been asked to clarify on the news about being appointed as the permanent president of YSRCP. The commission on Wednesday directed the party to make a “clear public announcement” as the matter has the potential to create “confusion” among other political organisations.
The Yuvajan Shramik Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) had informed the commission about the ‘unanimous’ election of Jagan Mohan Reddy as the party’s president on July 8 and 9 this year. However, he did not give any clear details regarding the allegations of making Jagan permanent president for life.
Explanation sought after news came in media
After the media reports, the Election Commission had sought an explanation from the party. The YSRCP later confirmed to the Election Commission that news on the issue had surfaced in the media and the party had started an internal inquiry in this regard.
What Bid YSRCP
The YSRCP told the Election Commission of India that “necessary action” would be taken by the party on ascertaining the facts. The order of the election body states that the commission categorically rejects any attempt or indication of any organizational post to be of a permanent nature, which is inherently anti-democratic.
Jagan Mohan Reddy is currently the CM of Andhra Pradesh and is also the President of YRSP. He formed the YSRCP in 2011 after breaking ties with the Congress and became the party’s president.
