Eight MLAs left Congress and joined BJP in Goa, will meet PM Modi today

Goa Congress Crisis: In Goa, 8 MLAs who left Congress and joined BJP early last week will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi today (Monday). According to a senior BJP leader, the MLAs, led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and BJP state unit president Sadanand Tavanade, will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday morning.

The said leader told that six MLAs had left for Delhi by plane on Sunday night itself, while MLAs Michael Lobo and Digambar Kamat would reach the National Capital Region i.e. Delhi today. Both these MLAs were out of the state on Sunday. Earlier on Wednesday, MLAs Digambar Kamat, Michael Lobo, Delilah Lobo, Rajesh Faldesai, Kedar Naik, Sankalp Amonkar, Alexio Sequeira and Rudolph Fernandes joined the BJP after passing a resolution in the Congress Legislature Party meeting.

May also meet JP Nadda and Amit Shah

According to BJP official sources, these group of MLAs are also likely to meet party president JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah during their Delhi visit. The BJP returned to power in the state after the Goa assembly elections held this year. In the forty-member Goa Legislative Assembly, it had 20 MLAs, while the number of Congress MLAs was 11, but now that 8 MLAs have left the Congress and joined the BJP, this equation has changed. Now BJP has 28 MLAs in the assembly, whereas Congress has only 3 MLAs left.

There was an oath to be loyal at the time of election

Let us tell you that during the elections in February this year, Goa Congress had made a tweet in which it and the alliance party’s candidates were there. In this, all 40 candidates of Goa Forward Party alliance said that they take #PledgeOfLoyalty to stay united and loyal. They vow never to support or participate in any activity that sells Goa’s identity, but when eight of these MLAs switched parties last week, people had a lot of fun with them.
