Nagpur. The NDPS Cell of the Crime Branch had caught two accused with 1.90 kg of drugs on Wardha Road on the night of March 2. After a long time, the police has got success in reaching the root of the matter. CP Amitesh Kumar told the media that the drug smugglers from Mumbai had already been caught by the police, but now the investigation team has arrested the kingpin of the drug racket from UP. The arrested accused was said to be Sandeep Indrajit Tiwari (43), resident of Gothan, Jaunpur (Uttar Pradesh).
In the investigation, it was found that he prepares the drugs himself. On Saturday, the police produced him in the court. The court has ordered to keep him in police custody till March 17. In this case, the number of accused who have been arrested so far has increased to 7. Earlier, the police arrested Kunal Govind Gabhane (18), Gaurav Sanjay Kaleshwarrao (22), resident of Shantinagar, Nandkishore Devidas Kumbhalkar (37), resident of Bhawaninagar, Akshay Gajanan Yewale (29), Pankaj Shyamrao Charade (30) and Akram Chunnu Khadde, resident of Koliwada, Mumbai. (32) was taken into custody. All are currently in police custody. He will also be produced in the court on Sunday and will be taken into police custody.
The police force had to struggle
The CP told that the police had arrested the 4 accused in Nagpur itself, but Pankaj Charde and his partner Akram had fled from Mumbai. Both were being followed continuously. 3 days ago, the police got a confirmed information that Pankaj and Akram had gone to Goa to celebrate Holi with their girlfriends. Immediately a squad left for Goa by plane and they were caught and brought to Nagpur. Then Pankaj gave information about buying goods from Sandeep. Sandeep is basically a resident of Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh. His house is in the densely populated Pali village. As soon as the police squad nabbed him at home, the local citizens gathered. Sandeep also does social service with black money. In such a situation, it was difficult to get him out of there. Immediately the top officials contacted the SP and other officials of Jaunpur and called for the security force. After much effort, the police squad took him and left for Nagpur.
Drugs worth 1,000 crores were caught earlier also
Sandeep and his gang were caught by the Mumbai Anti Narcotics Cell in December 2018. At that time, 100 kg of Fentanyl was found with him, which was worth Rs 1,000 crore in the market. He was released on bail after being in jail for almost two and a half years. Sandeep is a graduate in Chemistry. He has also worked in the Pharma industry for a few years. In the investigation done so far, it has been found that he himself prepares synthetic drugs using different substances. This was the reason that he used to sell the goods from Mumbai’s drugs market at a quarter price. He used to sell the goods only when the quantity was high. Pankaj and Akram themselves went to Varanasi to collect the goods from him. Returned back to Mumbai by road. After this Pankaj took drugs from his car and left for Nagpur. In Pulgaon, he had handed over the goods to Kunal and Gaurav. All the accused have an old criminal record. Pankaj has 14 cases registered against him including murder. Akshay also has 13 cases registered against him including murder. Kunal is also accused of murder. Sandeep has 4 cases registered against him including drug smuggling in Mumbai.
