The DGP Headquarters on Monday approved the reorganization of Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar and Varanasi Police Commissionerates. One zone each has been increased in Kanpur Nagar and Varanasi while the police stations of Lucknow Rural have been adjusted in Lucknow.

ADG law and order Prashant Kumar said that in all the three districts, changes have been made in the earlier structure of the commissionerate. Now Lucknow will have 52 police stations, 16 circles and five zones. The Kanpur Municipal Police Commissionerate will have 49 police stations, 14 circles and four zones. And Varanasi Police Commissionerate will have 30 police stations, 9 circles and three zones.

Central in Kanpur and Gomti new zone has been created in Varanasi. The post of one DCP, one ADCP and four ACPs has been increased in Kanpur. Similarly, the post of one DCP, one ADCP and three ACP has increased in Varanasi. Here, no new zone has been created in Lucknow Police Commissionerate. Seven rural police stations have been included in different zones. However, the post of three ACPs has been increased in Lucknow.

Varanasi Police Commissionerate reconstituted, number of zones increased
The DGP Headquarters has approved the reconstitution of the Varanasi Police Commissionerate. Varanasi Commissionerate will have 3 zones, 9 circles and 30 police stations. Gomti will be the new zone in Varanasi. With this, now the number of zones in Varanasi has increased from two to three. The number of circles has also increased from six to nine. There are 13 police stations in Kashi zone, 10 police stations in Varuna zone and seven police stations in Gomti zone. There will be four circles in Kashi zone. In this Kotwali Circle will have Kotwali, Ramnagar, Adampur and Mahila Thana. Bhelupur Circle will have Bhelupur, Lanka and Chitaipur. Dashashwamedh circle will have Dashashwamedh, Chowk and Laksa police stations. Chetganj, Zaidpur and Sigra police stations have been kept in Chetganj circle. There will be three circles in Varanasi zone. Cantt circle will have Cantt, Shivpur and Lalpur-Pandepur police stations. Sarnath Circle will have Sarnath, Chaubepur, Cholapur and Tourism police stations. Rohaniya circle will have Rohaniya, Maduadih and Lohta police stations. There will be two circles in Gomti Zone. Pindra circle will have Bargaon, Phulpur and Sindhaura police stations. While Raja Talab Circle will have Raja Talab, Mirzamurad, Kapsethi and Jansa police stations.
