DGCA Ban on Spicejet: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has extended the ban imposed on SpiceJet till October 29. Airlines will now operate with 50 percent flights till October 29, 2022. Simultaneously, DGCA noted that there has been a significant reduction in the number of security incidents.
On July 27, the DGCA, taking action due to the frequent technical glitches of SpiceJet aircraft, had banned 50 percent of the flights for 8 weeks. The DGCA had said that the airlines would be kept under additional surveillance for these 8 weeks.

The company is operating with only 50 planes
While issuing the order, the DGCA had said that if the SpiceJet airline wants more than 50 percent of the flights in future, then it will have to prove that it has the capacity to carry this additional load. SpiceJet company has a total of 90 aircraft. However, after the order of DGCA, the company is able to operate only 50 aircraft.
80 pilots sent on leave
This decision has also affected the financial condition of the airline company SpiceJet. According to media reports, the company has sent 80 of its pilots on leave without pay. Recently, after the DGCA’s strictness on Spiget, its financial situation has worsened. SpiceJet has decided to send 80 pilots on leave without pay for three months. Citing sources, the report said that out of the pilots who went on leave without pay, 40 pilots are of aircraft number B737 and 40 pilots of Q400.
