Dengue Alert: Nine new dengue patients found in Gorakhpur, number reached 222


Dengue infection cases are continuously increasing in Gorakhpur. In the investigation conducted on Monday, nine people including a child have been found dengue infected. After this, the total number of dengue patients in the district has increased to 222. There are 142 patients in the city and 80 in rural areas. However, there are 23 active patients among them. Eight of them are hospitalized. The remaining 15 are being treated at home.

District Malaria Officer Angad Singh said that one dengue patient each has been found in Narsinghpur, Alhadadpur, Diwan Bazar, Nizampur, Arya Nagar, Mirzapur, Maya Bazar, District Hospital and Baharampur. Their ages are 20, 24, 40, 53, 50, 58, 29, 26, 12 years respectively. For verification of these patients, the team of Health Department had gone to Nizampur, Goriana Tola and Ilahibagh of Mirzapur, where mosquito larvae have been found in four houses. They have been instructed by giving notice that if larvae are found for the second time, then fine will be imposed. Apart from this, source reduction was done at 385 places.

Dengue patients should not panic, get treated

Prof. Dr. Rajkishore Singh, Department of Medicine, BRD Medical College told that dengue patients should not panic. It is not lethal. It gets cured with timely treatment. In case of dengue, drink more water, take lemon-salt-water solution. Take fruits and nutritious food. Take vitamin C and zinc. Use antibiotics sparingly in case of stomach upset. Because, it reduces the risk of platelets decreasing. Take fresh curd and ORS solution.

IMA fixes charges for dengue test and platelets

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has fixed the fee for dengue test and platelets in private pathology and blood corpus. Now dengue test will cost between Rs 1,000 to Rs 1500. Whereas, patients will get platelets between four hundred and 13 thousand rupees. This decision has been taken in a meeting held on Monday with CMO Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Dubey.

IMA President Dr. Shiv Shankar Shahi and Media In-charge Dr. Imran Akhtar told that the cost of single donor platelets (it is prepared immediately after taking out from the blood of the donor) is Rs 11000. If the blood group of the donor does not match with the blood group of the patient, then a chemical is put in it, which costs two thousand rupees. This also has to be given to the patient. Pre-stocked platelets will be provided only at Rs 400 per bag. Rapid and antibody test for dengue will be for Rs 1000 and ELISA test for Rs 1500.
