Mumbai: Even after several decades, the World Heritage Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Railway Station remains a favorite location for film shooting. Central Railway has earned more than Rs 2.32 crore for film shooting in the year 2022 through its various premises and rail coaches.
About 14 films were shot this year which includes 8 feature films, 3 web series, one documentary, one short film and advertisement. 5 films were shot at the UNESCO World Heritage Railway Station CSMT, including an ad film for Sunfeast Mom’s Magic. Shooting on Central Railway for 18 days at Yeola, Kanhegaon stations for feature film-2 Brides by special train, which earned the highest income of 1.27 crores. Another feature film was shot for three days at Apta railway station by special train, earning 29.40 lakhs. The highest ever film shooting by Central Railway from January to December has earned Rs 2.32 crore, which is a 99 percent increase as compared to Rs 1.17 crore earned last year in 2021.

Single window system started for permission
A senior official of Central Railway said that film shooting was allowed at our popular locations like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Railway Station, Wadi Bunder Yard, Wathar (near Satara) and Apta Station (in Panvel area). The most preferred film shooting locations are CSMT, Apta, Panvel, Lonavla, Khandala, Vathar, Satara and railway yards like Turbhe and Wadi Bunder. The permission for film shooting is granted by the Public Relations Department of Central Railway. Single window system has been introduced to expedite the permissions.
