Communist Party of Marxist (CPIM) general secretary Sitaram Yechury met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad separately in Patna on Wednesday and discussed opposition unity. Kumar, a Janata Dal (United) leader, had met Yechury during his Delhi visit earlier this month. The Left leader tweeted, “When I met Nitish Kumar ji in Patna today, he gave me a warm welcome. We carried forward our discussions in Delhi to mobilize the broader unity of secular democratic forces to protect the Indian Constitution and the unity and integrity of our country.”

Yechury, who reached Patna in the evening, also met RJD chief Lalu Prasad at his house. Yechury tweeted, “Really pleasant to have a conversation with Lalu ji at his house in Patna today.” The Left leader said that he discussed with the former Bihar Chief Minister about saving India and the Constitution. He alleged that the fundamental rights of the people were being attacked. Sitaram Yechury will address the party’s ‘Save India’ rally at Gandhi Maidan here on Thursday.
