Lucknow: A history was created on Thursday in both the houses of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature. On the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, an entire day was dedicated to women members in both the houses, where women members of the ruling party and opposition participated and there was intense discussion on women’s interests. On the fourth day of the monsoon session, only women-related issues resonated in the Vidhan Sabha and the Legislative Council. This was the first time in any assembly of the country that the entire day was dedicated to women members. The opposition, which is generally opposed to the initiative of the government, was also positive about this thinking of the Chief Minister.

Initiating the discussion in the historic proceedings, Chief Minister Yogi underlined the importance of women in Indian culture by referring to Vedic quotes and legends. The verse composed by Maharishi Ved Vyas “Nasti matrisama chaya nasti matri sama speedah. Nasti matrisam tranam nasti matrisama priya॥” He said that there is no shadow like a mother, no support, no protector, no dear like a mother. If this feeling of mother power comes in the mind of every citizen then nothing is impossible. The CM remembered the Vedic women learned women from Brahmavadini Ghosha, Lopamudra, Apala to Mata Anusuiya, Sati Savitri, Maitreyi, Rukmini etc. has played. The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of happiness that today everyone in the House is seeing women power. Today is the day of the House in the name of women. The CM said that both men and women have equal rights in India. We all know that everything is possible with mother power.

Reiterating his commitment to protect women’s interests in the House, the Chief Minister also laid a brief account of the efforts and results of ‘Mission Shakti’ being run by the state government for women empowerment in the last five and a half years. He said that to solve the problem of female feticide, the government first started the informer scheme and then carried forward the program of Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana. Today, about 13.67 lakh daughters are getting the benefit of this scheme in the state. Under the Nisrit Mahila Pension Yojana, the pension amount has been increased to Rs 1,000 and today 31.50 lakh women are getting its benefit.

3,195 Anti Romeo Squad Formed

The Chief Minister said that Uttar Pradesh has the largest civil police force in the country, but in the 70 years since independence till 2017, there were only 10,000 women officers and personnel. In the last five and a half years, it has been increased to more than 35 thousand in a phased manner. Taking an innovative initiative, 10417 new women police beats have been formed, where women police are being deployed and their talent is being harnessed. He said that there are total 1584 police stations in the state. Women help desks have been set up at every police station. Not only this, 3195 Anti Romeo Squads were formed after the government was formed in 2017. This squad checked at 6,75,143 places and 28,33,893 suspicious people were checked. In addition, 66 lakh women have been added to the State Livelihood Mission. The 45 lakh families who have got the Prime Minister’s house, today happiness is seen on their faces.

2 crore 61 lakh families have toilets in their homes

CM Yogi said that with the help of Chief Minister’s mass marriage scheme, the government provided support to 1,81,686 couples. Toilets were built in the homes of 2 crore 61 lakh families in the state, this toilet construction is not only a part of cleanliness drive, but it is also associated with women’s dignity. 40 lakh families have got the ownership document of their house from the Pradhan Mantri Swamitva Yojana, while under PM Svanidhi, 2 lakh women have moved towards financial self-reliance by getting direct benefits.

Huge drop in crimes against women

The Chief Minister also mentioned about the big drop in the cases related to crime of women and children and the improved environment. Quoting NCRB data, the Chief Minister said that through effective prosecution in cases of crime against women and children, death sentence has been awarded to criminals in 32 cases. There are 1191 sentenced to more than 10 years, while 1431 had to be fined and 1323 criminals were sentenced to life imprisonment. The CM said that there are 3420 people sentenced to less than 10 years, while action was taken to make 4751 district Badar. The Chief Minister said that in the last 5 years, there has been a 32% reduction in rape, 29% in abduction, 25% in delinquency and 12% reduction in dowry murder cases, which shows that if we all make concerted efforts, then this situation will be better.

The whole country will listen to the voice of the women MLAs of UP

Congratulating all the women members on organizing the special session of women, the Chief Minister said that we are all grateful that the largest legislature of the country is moving ahead to create a new history. The voice of half the population will reach 25 crore people of the state through this house. Along with this, he will get an opportunity to keep other contemporary important issues related to the problems and achievements of the state in this House. The Chief Minister has appealed to all the women MLAs to speak openly about the problems, discuss them well. Their suggestions will be noted and the government will take action on them. He said that it is important to know the views of women regarding development, respect and self-reliance of the state. Women giving positive suggestions on all issues will help the government and good work will be done for the state. Their views will be collected and sent to the library in Parliament House and to all the State Legislatures. The Chief Minister requested the Speaker of the Assembly, Satish Mahana, that women should not be bound by the rules in the House today. Also, they should be given full time to speak. There should not be any time restriction. At the same time, told the male MLAs that every day the voices of women used to get suppressed under their noise, but today let the women speak and listen to them carefully.
