According to the belief, Lord Jesus Christ was born in the first half of 25th December i.e. between 12 to 3 in the midnight of 24th December. That’s why on this day at 12 o’clock in the night, special prayer meetings are organized in the churches in the joy of the arrival of the Lord. On the second day, on 25 December, the festival of Christmas is celebrated with pomp.

In view of Christmas, the markets were bright since morning on Friday. Shops have been decorated in all Christian localities including Golghar, Reti Chowk, Azad Chowk, Basharatpur, Railway Station. Shops are thronged to buy chocolates, candy gifts, Christmas cakes.
Competition is on to make the cake
The people of Christian community along with the children of their house were seen going towards the bakery in the morning with cake material in the box. The point of involving children in cake making is to expose children to Christian tradition. Children compete to write their names and numbers on papers and stick them on the cake. When the cake is out of the bakery after being baked, the children collect it by adding their name and number. Preparations are being made to make delicious non-veg dishes for guests and loved ones at home.
