Pimpri: In view of the Chinchwad By-Election-2023 by-election, the Election Department has started check posts at various places to prevent incidents like wooing and pressurizing voters. 43 lakh cash was seized from a suspicious car by the ‘Static Surveillance Team’ at one such check post set up in Chinchwad’s Dalvi Nagar. The seized cash has been deposited with the Income Tax Department.
By-election is going on for Chinchwad assembly seat. After the end of the deadline for withdrawal of nominations, the picture of the election has become clear and 28 candidates are in the fray. Therefore, now a vigorous campaign has started. Regarding this, the Election Department has activated various teams. A thorough inspection of vehicles is being carried out by ‘Static Surveillance’ teams in various areas of Chinchwad Assembly Constituency to prevent distribution of money during the bye-elections. One such check post has also been started in Chinchwad Dalvinagar. Some people were taking money from a car in Dalvinagar. When the static surveillance team of the Election Department thoroughly examined this car, it found cash worth 43 lakhs. When the concerned were questioned about this money, initially it was found that this money belonged to a diagnostic company. However, officials of the ‘Static Surveillance’ team said that this money has been deposited with the Income Tax Department as per rules. Now the Income Tax Department is probing the matter.
