New Delhi: The Supreme Court has sought review of its verdict acquitting three death row convicts in the gang rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl in Delhi’s Chhawla area in 2012. Agreed on Wednesday to set up a three-member bench to consider the police’s petition.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice PS Narasimha and Justice JB Pardiwala that one of the accused who was acquitted by this court recently slit the throat of a person. “I am saying that all the acquitted accused are dreaded criminals, so we are requesting review of last year’s verdict,” Mehta said.

After this, Mehta requested the court to hear the revision petition in open court. On this, the bench said that a new bench will decide in this matter.
