Akola, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary was celebrated with enthusiasm in the city. Religious, social and national programs were organized at various places on this occasion. In which citizens participated with enthusiasm.
On Sunday, on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, a huge procession was organized in the metropolis by the Sarvajanik Shiv Jayanti Utsav Samiti. The slogans of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ki Jai reverberated throughout the city at this time. Hundreds of women and men participated in this procession. This procession started from Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Open Theatre. Shiv Chhatrapati’s palanquin, along with women wearing red turbans on their heads, as well as a young man in the costume of Chhatrapati Shivrai riding on three horses and the tableau of mother Jijau attracted everyone’s heart.
This huge procession started with the sound of fireworks, firecrackers and drums. In this, Shivcharitra drama performed by the students of Pandurang Bhirad Convent along with Mahatma Phule’s tableau, Saint Tukaram and Shivaji’s visit, Mata Jijau’s tableau was also attracting the attention of the people. The procession ended at Shivaji Park.
On this occasion former Mayor Vijay Aggarwal, Kishore Mangte and many organizations and dignitaries welcomed this procession. In the morning Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary was celebrated by the Utsav Samiti in Shivaji Park area. Committee’s President Pawan Mahalle, Secretary Chandrakant Jhatale, Niranjan Pawasale, Sushma Kavre, Devshree Thackeray, Nayana Deshmukh and office bearers and Shiv lovers were present in this function.
