Nearly five hundred turtles filled in 21 sacks recovered

A consignment of tortoises being smuggled from the Down North East Express going from Anand Vihar to Kamakhya was recovered at the local railway station. RPF has recovered about five hundred turtles filled in 21 sacks. At the same time, 14 women carrying turtles have also been caught. The Down North East Express reached platform number three of the local railway station at around 7 pm on Monday. During this, on the information of RPF Prayagraj, 21 sacks of tortoise were recovered from RPF PDDU post’s Jawan S One Coach. Here the turtles were counted till late night.
According to RPF, the number of turtles recovered is around 500. RPF Inspector Sanjeev Kumar told that with the help of Prayagraj RPF, tortoise smuggler women have been arrested. The accused women were keeping a bag full of turtles under the seat in the sleeper coach. The women were taking the tortoise to Guwahati. Told that the turtle will be handed over to the Forest Department and action is being taken to hand over the women to the GRP.
