The Allahabad High Court has given eight weeks time to the Archaeological Survey of India to file a counter affidavit in the case of carbon dating of the alleged Shivling located in the Gyanvapi complex of Varanasi. The hearing of the petition will be held on March 20.

The counsel for the petitioner also sought time to know the effect of the ongoing hearing in the Supreme Court. Justice JJ Munir has given this order on the revision petition of Lakshmi Devi and others.

In the last hearing, the court had sought information from the Archaeological Survey of India about the carbon dating test on the alleged Shivling without any tampering. Also, due to the pending case in the Supreme Court, time was given to seek clarification from the Supreme Court on the impact of this petition.

The court had asked, is there any such method, by which the carbon dating test of the alleged Shivling can be done without harming it. On this, the Archaeological Survey of India filed a reply saying that it has such methods, which can do carbon dating test without damaging the Shivling. Seeks eight weeks time to file counter affidavit.
