Industrialist Gautam Adani met former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray here on Wednesday. “The meeting took place today,” an official said. The official, however, did not specify what issues were discussed between the Adani Group chairman and the Shiv Sena chief. Thackeray had quit as chief minister after senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde led a rebellion against him and disbanded 39 party MLAs in June. Shinde took over as the chief minister on June 30. Both the rival camps of Shiv Sena are embroiled in a legal battle over rights over the party.

It is noteworthy that Gautam, the chairman of Adani Group, has recently become the second richest person in the world, he is the first person in Asia to reach this position. Gautam has been given VIP security of ‘Z’ category of CRPF commandos by the central government. Official sources said on Wednesday that this security cover will be on “payment basis” across the country. Its expenditure could be around Rs 15-20 lakh per month. Sources said that on the basis of the risk estimation report prepared by the central security agencies, 60-year-old Gautam Adani has been provided security.
