BangaloreKarnataka: Senior BJP leader and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Wednesday said in his “farewell speech” in the assembly that he would sincerely strive till his last breath to strengthen the party and bring it to power. Yediyurappa (79), a four-time chief minister, has already announced his retirement from electoral politics.
He told the House that there was no question of him sitting at home and he would tour the state after the assembly session and campaign for his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its candidates. Participating in the House’s discussion on the state budget, Yediyurappa urged the ruling party legislators to confidently go before the people and seek votes. He said it was certain that the BJP would return to power with a clear majority.

Yediyurappa said, “If God gives me the strength, I will make all efforts to bring the BJP to power in the next election as well, which will be held five years after this election. As you are already aware that I have said that I will not contest elections now, but I cannot forget the honor given to me and the positions given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party for the rest of my life.
The assembly session ends on Friday and Yeddyurappa said, “It is my farewell in a way, as I can neither come nor speak in the assembly after this.” At this Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri and Parliamentary Affairs Minister JC Madhuswamy intervened and said that Yediyurappa would make his last speech in the House on Friday.
