New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday had a telephonic conversation with King Charles III of Britain and apprised him of the priorities of the G-20 meeting to be chaired by India. This information was given in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). After the death of Queen Elizabeth II of Britain, Charles III became his successor. After this, this was the first conversation of Prime Minister Modi with Charles III.
According to the PMO, Modi conveyed his best wishes for a successful governance. The PMO said that several topics of mutual interest were discussed during the talks, including climate action, conservation of biodiversity, innovative solutions for financing the energy-transition, etc. The Prime Minister also praised Charles III for his interest in and advocacy of these issues.

Modi briefed them about India’s priorities for the G-20 chairmanship, including the promotion of digital public goods. The PMO said the Prime Minister also apprised him of the relevance of Mission LIFE – Lifestyle for the Environment, through which India seeks to promote an environmentally sustainable lifestyle.
According to the PMO, the two leaders exchanged views on the Commonwealth of Nations and also discussed ways to further strengthen its functioning. “He also appreciated the role of the Indian community in the UK in serving as a ‘living bridge’ between the two countries and enriching bilateral relations,” the PMO said.
